About our Family of Artists

Lyle (Buz) and Darlee have painted together for over their 50 plus years of marriage.  Painting was a hobby where they learned and grew together as a couple while the kids were small.  They have been drawn to nature and beauty, often celebrating the amazing clouds, lighting, and pure majesty of our Central Oregon landscape.  Lara was lucky to grow up here with loving and nurturing parents who always encouraged whatever crazy idea she had...including starting this studio.

Over the years, friends and family have been interested in the artworks created by Buz.  Some of his work is currently for sale at Rick Steber and Company MAKERS Showroom in Prineville, Oregon.   Buz specializes in landscapes and wildlife art, often with dramatic skies.  His favorite medium is oil, but you will see works in acrylic and gouache from time to time.  He was born in Redmond, Oregon in 1931.  Yes!  He’s 90 years old and No! He doesn’t look it.  But Buz has deep knowledge of Oregon’s most beautiful places.  You’ll notice he captures much of his memories of our area’s natural beauty as it was many years ago.

Darlee served our community as the Art Department Director at Deschutes County fair for a number of years.   Darlee loves working with watercolors.  Many of her older works are in this medium.  She has tried most every medium available to artists and even created jewelry and metal works over the years.  Darlee is also an Oregon native.  Born in Coquille, Oregon near Coos Bay, she moved to Central Oregon in the 50’s.

Lara enjoys creating in both acrylics and oils.  You will see a variety of styles in her work.  Her favorite works capture special moments that illicit emotion.  She also loves creating personalized functional art and has done a few pet portraits.
